Hello folks , I'm new to smashwords and am currently self-publishing my poetry collection as an ebook. I found this forum whilst searching the smashwords site looking to see if it had an official forum - I wanted to ask the community if anyone would be willing to read an advance copy of my ebook and share with me their comments for blurb before the release date? I found this, great methinks, but looking down the threads and the dates, I'm wondering how active it is? Some parts haven't been posted in since 2014... Well, fingers crossed! Oh, and hello!

This forum is very slow at the moment. Everyone stopped commenting the past two years during Covid. :-)
You can put your blurb up here, and when I get time, I can comment on it.
Life is getting in the way of my writing this year, what with 2 floods, roof leaking and getting fixed, replacing lights that don't work from the water, etc. It is winter in Australia now, so thankfully, things are slowing down. I actually got 1300 words so far this month, and hope to get more before the month is over. :-)

The board has been slow lately but new posts do get announced to members and will draw attention. Poetry? Not my field. I did answer a question on Quora recently about how popular poetry is as an eBook. I was quite surprised to find the #1 poetry book at Amazon ranking at 16,000 in books which would mean it's selling about 200 copies per month. Wish my Sci-Fi/Technothrillers and short time-travel stories were doing as well.

Wow, jaydax, 16000 ranking for a poetry eBook is very impressive.
A friend wants me to read her poems when I get time then show her how to publish as an eBook and a print book.
I also wish my SciFi and Fantasy books were doing half as well as that poetry book. :-)

Your signature reminds me quite a lot of myself. I write, paint Bob Ross style paintings, dabble in poetry, play guitar, and am a Software Engineer by trade. I hope your poetry album does well. I've considered publishing some of mine after a bit of polish. I'll attach one. I don't recall it being Covid that caused me and others (Gary Weston for one) to quit posting here but rather the damnable trolls, largely Vietnamese as I recall. They popped up more quickly than they could be evicted and banned. Not sure if that still goes on here or not. And no idea why they would try to push goods (if you can qualify their junk as goods) here where it was so unsuitable. At any rate, I know this is an old thread, but hope you did publish your poetry book. This topic reminds me that I also would still like to do that. One and All
I've seen moonlight glisten, like diamonds on the snow And I've seen my face reflected, in a wet ax . . . and so, I know …
That we are mortal, you and I And as such, we soon must die That when fallen, our bodies lie …
As fodder for the crow – . . . and so, I know …
We were not meant, to o'er long last That all too soon, we surely pass Into a darkness, consuming all Oh, that dark, unseemly pall! A grim gash leaves a splitted skull …
Then we know, we all are fools! That one and all, we're naught but tools! To be used, until we're fell'd Upon hearing Death's dark bell … …toll and join, that darkly pall, each of us, one and all …
Frozen rubies made of blood A River Styx - a crimson flood Flows down my face, across my breast Stains my jerkin, and my flesh My limbs stiffen as I die Ice-cold winds now freeze my eyes The men above me stomp and swear But I - I no longer care …
