I've followed (I think!) the Smashwords guide but am not quite sure if my paragraphs are correct or not. I have used 'block paragraphs' and when I check my Word doc I see that on the blank line between the paragraphs there is that strange 'p' sign. (Palcrow?) There is also one right after the last word in each paragraph. Is that ok? Are they supposed to be there or will that cause problems when I submit? If so, how do you create a paragraph gap without causing it? Thanks for any advice.

That strange 'p' sign is the MSWord paragraph mark explained in the Style Guide. It doesn't appear in the finished ebook.
Each 'p' sign should have no space between it and the last letter before it at the end of each sentence or blank line between paragraphs.

Thanks for that. I knew those signs didn't appear in the final doc, but was just unsure if whether they were appearing in the correct positions for a meatgrinder 'pass'. Thanks, George
