Dogs of Orninica (smashwords) Barnes & NobleMillennia ago, the humans departed Earth, leaving behind their loyal canine companions. Today, the dogs have evolved to become the dominant species on Earth. Their greatest nation, Orninica, has fully embraced the lessons left by man and built towering concrete metropolises patrolled by all-seeing drones and fueled by the military industrial complex. Their major religion is built on the back of Batman comic books unearthed in the ruins of a human basement centuries ago, transcribed, and then lost. The world has embraced social technology with open arms and virtually everyone wears an iYglass device everywhere they go, while big-budget dreams (with commercials) are beamed to their headsets as they sleep. The unceasing quest for profit has taken this vast empire to the brink of collapse, and now in its waning days, the leaders of the nation’s affluent corporations make a desperate effort to begin a new war, hoping to stimulate the economy and keep the wealthy elite in power for another day. Unfortunately, the only enemy they have left to wage war on is a nation of primitive nomads with no advanced weaponry. The leaders of the free world must now concoct a plan to arm the simple savages and ensure a long, profitable war. This satirical cautionary tale is made up of a collection of correspondences from every corner of society, including a grovelling judge, an egotistical actor, an Internet revolutionary, a cunning banker, a foreign spy, a peeping police officer, a profane soldier and a professor. A humorous book for the Occupy Generation and budding anarchists everywhere.

Hi Daniel:
Welcome!
Because I have a special interest in dystopic and utopic stories, I went to Smashwords to check out your book. I saw that you offered it for free. Hmmm, also when I downloaded it, I got an epub.html file and was unable to read it. Any ideas. I am not that technical.

Canarypress, it works for me. I visited Smashwords and clicked on the epub download file from my FireFox browser. My browser then opened Calibre, added the epub to my Library, and I easily opened the epub file and checked the TOC by clicking on all the links to the chapters.

Hi Ted, thanks for the tip -- I am rapidly slipping into a technical morass.....nothing seems to work like it did "before."

Daniel, I got your book.
There are some things I do not understand. You are a very good writer. While I am only a short way in, I find the tone and use of language descriptive and funny (i.e. use of CDs and more). Is this your first book? Do you have others in the wings? Why is it free? I'd put a price on it.
Plus, if you don't mind my suggestions, if you ever "republish" this ebook, add your bio and contact info.
I have a lot of good things to say about your book. For one, it is formatted nicely. I say this because not only is it well-written and so far the "plot" is well-designed but it looks professional.
Maybe you are just beginning? Got a blog website?
Anyway, when I am done reading your book, "Dogs of Orninica" I will post a review on Smashwords.
Thanks for the opportunity to read your book.

Hi, it's free because its been out for a year and hasn't sold a single copy on smashwords, so I gave up on trying to profit from it. At least this way someone will read it. It is my first book, I have a blog at www.danielunedo.com/When I gave it away on amazon I got a few reviews but it's hard to reach the intended audience when you give something away, so a lot of the reviews were negative, which has killed any chance of the book reaching readers that would be interested in the subject matter. It's a very experimental narrative, which turns a lot of people off. Hope you enjoy it. No plans for more fiction right now, but maybe non-fiction.
