In the early 1980s, I worked in Portland, Oregon's, music business as a publicist and band manager. When one of the nightclubs I frequented was torn down, many of us gathered to share memories -- and thus was born the inspiration for You Had to be There: Three Years of Mayhem and Bad Decisions in the Portland Music Scene. I must confess, it was a hard book to write, because it also deals with how I survived domestic violence during the same period. Description from Smashwords: During her teenage years, author Sharon E. Cathcart dreamed of working in the music business. She lived that dream for seven years, beginning at age 18. Unfortunately, she learned that sometimes dreams turn quickly to nightmares. Link: www.smashwords.com/books/view/29513
