!Hola! I am uploading "Roadside Rest" onto Smashwords, and it wants to know if the book has adult content or is inappropriate for readers under 18. By whose standards? The story has a sex scene where they get into an argument, because the female protagonist doesn't want to commit, is worried about pregnancy etc but this is not written for erotic purposes. I am not writing 50 Shades of Gray, here (Haven't read it, don't plan on it). My friend's 13 year old son is reading Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" for his reading assignment. Huh?

tgmiko, you are uploading a work to a United States company and so the sexual standards are those set by laws in the United States.
Erotica pertaining to minors or underage persons is not permitted, according to Smashwords TOS updated in March.
As your story has a sex scene where they get into an argument because the female doesn't want to commit and is worried about pregnancy etc., it doesn't sound like erotica between minors or underage persons and therefore shouldn't be marked as adult content.

Hi Ted, So it sounds like what they're saying by adult content is weird sex between weird people, or people unable (by law) to consent. Great. I labeled Amateur Hour as adult, thinking that any sex at all would be considered (by Smashwords) as adult content. Now I need to figure out how to change that for Amateur Hour.

tgmiko, go to Settings on your Dashboard and change what you want. It will take a few days or weeks to filter through to other retailers, so check retailers to see if/when they updated your work. Contact Smashwords Support if after a couple of weeks you find a retailer listing AH as erotic. Include link to problem book.

My God, I had a question answered, formed a second one, then had that one answered, all in the reading of this thread.
