It looks like the fee entries are $20 per entry Am I the only one who finds these competition's price points to be too high? Given the chances of winning, $20 seems awful high a price to pay to play. Now that said, I did major in Econ and understand that the market will price at what the market will bear. So if they can get away with pricing their game at $20, perhaps I'm just a crank. Then again, they may be depriving themselves of quality entries. So I ask, do $20 competitions stifle your urge to compete in them?

I don't enter any contest that charges an entry fee.

I entered the Kindle Book Review's Best Indie Book 2012 competition. $15 entry fee. I'm glad I did, because No Exit is now a semi finalist in the competition; it was given a 5 star review by one of the leading Amazon reviewers who also blogged about it, and in June, sales started to take off for this book. 20 years ago, I got my start in publishing by entering an Australian womens magazine writing competition, so when I first saw the email about this particular comp, I thought, hmm, I wonder... Then I thought, why not? What's to lose by having a go? Julie.
