If I make a free eBook on Smashwords, will it be distributed anywhere beyond my Smashwords page?

Also will Smashwords still track downloads, even if I'm not selling the eBook?

Yes. Visit the Smashwords web site and, if a Smashwords member, read the FAQ's. If you are not a Smashwords member, then visit their site and click on the "How to publish on Smashwords" link.
