Let's hope it's a good sign and actually introduces more competition that is positive for indy writers. We don't really need another big player with restrictive policies, poor pricing etc...

I wonder how much my Kobo sales will increase? I started a thread earlier in the month about playing with near-zero (not free) pricing in foreign markets. I've been expanding the experiment to most if not all of my novellas (99cent price points here in the States), and I've been seeing a spike in sales from Japan where I haven't sold any books in the past. Granted, I have to sell approximately 25 books to make what I would at 99 cents, but since I had zero sales there before, I'm still making more than I would otherwise. What I'm hoping is that it creates a bit of a landslide akin to when a book hits the Top 100 on Amazon and picks up steam from there...
