The top one. And Tales from Indies should be quite a bit bigger. I think that the Smashwords Forum Writers anthology part...I'm not sure that should even be on the cover, as it might look a tiny bit amateurish? Noted. How about making it like this? Tales From Indies SWF Anthology 2015 Either that, or we centralize the title somewhat and don't include anything else, letting the background speak for itself?

Best to get the year right, Serbs. I'd like a list of participants in alphabetical order under 'SWF Anthology 2015' maybe in small caps?

I agree with having the title as the main focus on the cover, but think listing all contributors on the cover would make it look crowded, lessening the impact somehow.
I also do not agree that using 'a Smashwords Writers Forum Anthology' as a subtitle on the cover would look 'amateurish'. It says what it is, and doesn't have to be in the same font size as the main title (subtitles usually aren't). It could run along the bottom of the cover, almost giving the appearance of a series subtitle (might there be a 2016?).
Then, if need be, authors can be listed on the title page inside (although if there is a ToC is this necessary?).
As I have not contributed a story, though, these suggestions can be overruled....

LoL. You make good points. I think that we can't have both SWF Anthology + 10 author names... as it will crowd the image. I will deliver different samples then we can all vote on it.

Thanks for the update, I look forward to hearing more. It is a shame that Amazon aren't more amenable to free books, since places like Google Play are. Free on Smashwords makes sense to me though, certainly. I'm happy to go with what the group decides though. Charity wise, if we have to charge for the book, my vote would be for Alzheimer's research in honour of Terry Pratchett (might resonate with writers?), but again, any cause is fine with me. Bret: interesting idea, thanks, Ria

How should the cover's writing read? Tales From Indies Smashwords Forum Writers Anthology 2015 -or Smashwords Forum Writers Anthology 2015 Tales From Indies Hi Serban: I vote for title first. The title and artwork should dominate the cover. With the author i.e. Smashwords Forum Writers Anthology 2015 lower on the cover. Tales From Indies Smashwords Forum Writers Anthology 2015

We can list the authors on an inside title page without artwork.

How should the cover's writing read? Tales From Indies Smashwords Forum Writers Anthology 2015 -or Smashwords Forum Writers Anthology 2015 Tales From Indies Can I suggest avoiding the word 'Indies' and instead using 'Independent Authors'. You would be amazed at the number of people who think an 'Indie' is something to do with India and go out of their way to avoid it.

I think Independent Authors is a turn off for viewers, compared to Indies. Secondly, the cover will alert the viewer that the ebook has nothing to do with adventures in India (that it's not historical fiction or anything); and also, the ebook's description will resolve any possible misunderstanding. I don't know of anyone who buy's a book based solely on the cover without first finding out what it is about.

I think that's right, Serban. 'Indies' here is used for its double meaning as a hook to entice the reader in. Common marketing stuff. The subtitle is there to set readers straight in the second instance.

Smashwords Forum Anthology Update 8/16/2015 We have ELEVEN great submissions that vary in length and style. Submissions:Bonnie - Footprints in Time Ria - Pierced Tongue Serban - Talking Crows (other submissions?) Bret - It Wants to Eat Me Kell - Final Paper (Additional submission - Solution) Ian - Insanity Sheila - Stranded Julie - Another Earth John and Sheila Chapman - Waking from the Dead (Additional submission Aftermath) Jennifer - Saturday Night Alan Shufeldt - Filo Most of our submissions have been reviewed. Still working to connect with authors for their review of the comments as we proceed. I am happy with the number and quality of our submissions, while I think the diversity needs a bit of work. Most of the stories are sci-fi/fantasy As I reviewed many of the posts on this Thread, there were many good ideas offered. Queries: Additional Submissions:Should we include the additional submissions? Title:I lost track of the discussion on the title. Serban what's the latest on the title? Tales From IndiesSmashwords AuthorsCover Artwork:
There was talk of interior artwork. At this moment, I think we should wait until the anthology is formatted to see if adding additional interior artwork will help or hinder the publication format in terms of complex formatting needs or issues with publication format i.e kindle or other formats. Price:I think we decided to charge .99 to get it listed on Amazon and offer a coupon on Smashwords, so it would be free. Any monies go to a charity: Oxfam or ? Other Ideas:If anyone offered an idea and it slipped through the cracks, let's bring it up again. Ideas to pursue:Additional media outlets Publicity Plans Thanks to all the SWF members who offered input, ideas, support and submissions!!!

-If there are new submissions, sure -Smashwords Forum Writers Anthology -As someone said, interior covers (even in smaller sizes) might fatten the ebook file too much. -I think we should offer it for free to begin with. After the ebook appears at the Smashwords retailers, we can contact Amazon via support, give the links to the other vendors where the ebook is free & tell them that this is a joint venture & that all of us have our individual ebooks with Amazon. -If anyone does pay money for it, in the meantime, you can always give those pennies to your local social center or whatever charity you like. -I myself will use twitter first and foremost. I will tweet to specific people that I follow & who follow me. I can also purchase a 10 dollar gig from BKnights to promote it (after we make it free).

I completely disagree with the use of a descriptive subtitle being 'amateurish'. I refer you to my blog on book covers at authorbookpromotion.blogspot.co.uk/2014/08/read-this-guide-before-making-or.html for my reasons.
