I think a collection of short but complete stories is more attractive to readers, rather than a collection of samples. As for pricing a box set, anything above free will require bureaucratic and financial responsibility for the account holder (the publisher). I don't think we're there yet. I agree, we need to make the anthology attractive on many levels. While I think we will strive for complete short stories, I don't think we should limit submissions from other forms like poetry...... Just a note: If we go with .99 for the anthology, any money will come in the form of a check and sent to my MD address. Checks are sent out quarterly if over X amount. So, if any money is generated, it will be some time before any monies are sent out in form of a check. I will advise my family regarding anticipation of any checks and probably by the time there are any monies, I will be in MD. I will then deposit check to a charity. We need to decide on a charity.

CP. The only reason I suggested a price at all was to get onto amazon without too much bother. Otherwise it would be a case of waiting for them to price-match free and we all know what fun and games that can be! I'd be pleased to have it as a freebie other than that. If we are all happy to not bother with amazon and just put it on all other sites via smash or d2d as a freebie. We can worry about a suitable good cause later if we go the 99c path.

We can put a 0.99 for Amazon and let it free on all the other retailers. Like Ria said, whatever money it earns on Amazon can go to charity.

They don't like us doing that much. Most of us do if we are hoping for price match for a freebie. I'm easy either way

We could offer a coupon on Smashwords to make it free. It's up to you guys regarding Amazon, free or .99.

Hello SWFers:
I know we are all busy.
But, I was perusing some of our members profiles and websites, and SWF is usually not listed on their link lists etc.
IMHO: I think we need to do some social media outreach for SWF.
If we are going to produce a quality anthology as a marketing tool, people need to know SWF exists.
My 2 cents, Ria

Smashwords 2015 Anthology Update: 6/2/2015:Tales from Indies by: Smashwords Forum AuthorsSmashword Forum members are creating a "free" anthology to illustrate the diversity of SWF writers. The anthology will be used as a marketing tool. Seeking Short Stories or Chapters 7,000 words or less. Format: Submit in Word doc format, standard formatting, Times Roman 12 pt, Flush left Deadline: August 1, 2015 Anticipated publication date: October 2015 Send submissions to Ria Stone at ria.stonemail@gmail.comCover Art ideas are being coordinated by Serbanvcenache Several SFW writers have volunteered to help review submissions. ====== UpdateWe have a Publishers Account on Smashwords - Smashwords Forum Writers Thank you to the SWF authors who have made submissions. We have 4 submissions. Three short stories of varying lengths and one Vignette. When the anthology idea was first presented, there was a lot of discussion over how the anthology will be coordinated etc. One issue I am not sure has been fully addressed is whether we should charge .99 in order to get listed on Amazon. Any funds raised will go to a charity. Charity has yet to be decided. We can always offer a SW coupon in order to let people order it for free. We would love to have at least 6 more stories or chapters. SWF has so many good writers in so many diverse genres, consider submitting your short story or chapter for the anthology. (Sorry, no erotica) It's June. Two months left to submit.

Hi Ria-
I'll email you a submission later today- just to double check though, is it okay to use a piece that's already published? (in other words, one from my existing short story collection on Smashwords).
The anthology is very interesting. Price-wise, I'm easy either way, happy for amazon proceeds to go to charity if we decide to list it there, and for it to be free elsewhere. The title is cool too, Tales from Indies. I can't help but want to add on a cheap joke, like 'Smashing tales' or 'All Smashed Up'.
Nice to meet you all.

After we submit it to the Kindle store, we should contact customer support and include links from the other retailers which offer our Anthology for free - and they should price match quickly. The title came to me while I was out doing my errands. The others liked it too and so we stuck with it. Hope Ria will be able to recruit more submissions before we reach the deadline (that that it's anything set it stone or anything).

Hi Beardedwordsmith: Wonderful, glad you will be making a submission to the SWF Anthology 2015. It does not matter if it has been published before. This is our anthology. It will be our marketing tool to showcase our work and to offer something to potential readers to expand our audiences. To my mind, if we must put a price on the anthology to get it listed on Amazon, we will have plenty of time before or if any monies come in to decide what to do with the monies. Since any monies from Amazon will be coming in the form of a quarterly check to my USA address, it will be months before anything is done with any checks. Also, on Smashwords the ebook will be available for free via coupon. Glad you like the title and I do understand how your mind ran with it! Keep writing.

C P. Help yourself to any of my freebie shorts. Just download them from smash. Not Davron, though. That isn't a stand alone.
