First Contact. With aliens so strange and predatory that humans could only react with revulsion and primal rage. And so, humanity fired first. Now, the ky'iin are raiding the solar system. The potential key to mankind's salvation? An unlikely pair of diplomats. One, a brilliant young linguist from Mars with a profound social disorder. Through her autism, she sees the beauty within the ky’iin. The other, a ky’iin negotiator who looks beyond humanity’s violent actions to the potential within. Can they serve as the bridge to unite the two species and stop the Contact War? Or will war-mongering saboteurs destroy them before they can act? Find this awesome novel here, courtesy of Jennifer R. Povey and Musa Publishing.

Forgot to add. I was interviewed about this book by "The Geek Side of Life" - you can listen to it here.

It looks interesting. Very nice cover. I would ask, though, why you don't have a sample and why it is not in more formats.

This was done through my publisher - I'm not sure exactly why they have limited it to epub on Smashwords, but I suspect it has to do with driving traffic to their own site and avoiding Smashwords fees as much as possible.
I'm not sure how Ted would feel about non-Smashwords links being posted here.

I'm not sure how Ted would feel about non-Smashwords links being posted here. Jennifer, your publisher may have chosen to upload/offer for sale only ePub format to Smashwords because that format is the one distributed to all retail partners. They won't be escaping any significant Smashwords fees by limiting file format to ePub, but will escape fees from people purchasing another format directly from Smashwords. And how often does that happen. As long as your work is available through Smashwords I don't care if you provide a link to other retailers partnered with Smashwords, except Amazon. If your publisher is a retail partner with Smashwords and offers your work along with all other authors on Smashwords, then go ahead and place a link to your work on your publishers site. If your publisher isn't a retail partner of Smashwords then post a link to your blog or your personal website. That way you're not directly linking a non-Smashwords ebook seller on the forum.

Okay, thanks Ted. That makes sense! I'd say they count as a retail partner as I know they put everyone's work on Smashwords routinely.
So, if you need something other than .epub feel free to go here.

Jennifer, being a publisher on Smashwords doesn't make them a retail partner. To be a retail partner Smashwords has to distribute all ebooks to them. I checked your publisher for my ebooks and found none, so I have removed your link. In the future I may allow publishers with their own retail outlet to advertise their site, but not at this moment.

Great review for Transpecial from David W. Rick: No matter what Captain Kirk might say about Mister Spock, I have to say that it is Jennifer R. Povey’s Transpecial that, out of all science fiction I have read in recent memory, strikes me as “most human.” Read the full review here.
