I have a situation where I would like an epub file to allow users to input text to a text box. Does anyone know of a way to create editable text boxes in MSWord which will convert properly to epub?
Or, does anyone know of the proper epub coding in Calibre which would allow users to input text as an answer to a question or series of questions?
What I want to display on the epub device is the following:
A WORD THE TEXT BOX A WORD A WORD THE TEXT BOX A WORD A WORD THE TEXT BOX A WORD
Then repeat the three lines but with different WORDS.
Right now I have in the MSWord file:
A WORD ____ A WORD A WORD ____ A WORD A WORD ____ A WORD
and instructions for reader to determine what goes in the ____
I'm looking for a more elegant way of displaying this type of content, one which would function on epub devices.
Or as an app if anyone knows of a simple way to code such a display. Any and all help appreciated.

When I worked in tertiary publishing We used to format comment boxes using open office, but there was a special styled template involved, and I can't recall how it worked. However, study the following. That may help. Or at least help you when using the designer aspect of word. Coding is beyond me, Ted. www.howtogeek.com/203892/how-to-create-fillable-forms-with-ms-word-2010/

Galatea, once again you have come to my rescue. Big kiss.
The information in the Questions and Answer portion of their book is just what I need. I'll be looking into that as an option for creating an epub3 version of the ebook.

The HTML code to create a text box is something like this: <form action="none" method="get"> <input name="textboxname" type="text" value="Enter your text here" size="25" maxlength="25" /> </form> That can be inserted in Calibre easily. The question is what do you want it to do once the text is entered?

... The question is what do you want it to do once the text is entered? Thanks for your coding, jaydax. I'd forgotten there would have to be some response to the input text in case someone placed the wrong answer. If entered text correct then popup a "That's correct.", or "Correct.", or something like that. If entered text is wrong then popup "Incorrect. Please try again".

Then as you say, the question and answer section of Galatea's suggestion should suffice. You can even correct their code (entering 'three' doesn't work). Add their epub file to Calibre and use the editor yo get the bit you want.
