Some months ago I went through the long
and painful hoops to have a book in Word format
pass through Smashwords' infamous
"Meatgrinder". I recently altered one sentence
and a number of small visual elements in the
same epub (using Calibre to make the changes),
but when uploading the revised epub to Smashwords
a few days ago I was immediately and
automatically advised by Meatgrinder
that the epub had been rejected.
The epub is visually perfect and has
been accepted elsewhere, but Smashwords
hasn't let it pass, on two counts, namely:
who's so skilled at getting epubs past
Meatgrinder that they could tweak my epub
for me.
This might involve the person uploading the
file to their own Smashwords account to
be sure it gets past the Meatgrinder,
and then, obviously, deleting it before
forwarding the perfected epub back to me.
I have the originating file in Word format, but
so many little improvements have been made to
the epub version (using Calibre) that I really
don't want to have to try and recall all the
many improvements made.
To save myself all the misery of learning how
to get round Meatgrinder's objections, I'm
willing to pay a reasonable fee if there's
someone skilled at dealing with Meatgrinder's
error messages!
Thanks.

hasn't let it pass, on two counts, namely:
- The file contains no meta data required for
release through Apple. (It seems Apple has
recently begun requiring some extra metadata
in Smashwords submissions?) - There are 22 instances of "lang errors",
apparently. Whatever these "lang errors" are,
they were either present in the original epub
that Smashwords produced, or Calibre has
inserted them.
