I had my manuscript professionally converted to epub and mobi. I uploaded it to Amazon/kindle and everything is perfect. Time to upload to Smashwords. First step: try the epub validator. It failed because there were spaces in the file name. I changed the filename so that there are no spaces in it. When I try to validate it using the revised filename, I get the same error message saying there are spaces in the file name. It also cites the old filename.
I have no idea what to do now. Does anyone have a work-around? Thanks in advance,
Tom

What's your file name? We need an example to see how to fix it.
Also, as you had your manuscript professionally produced for epub, shouldn't that professional provide you with a working file?

The filename was The Glitter of Stone4.epub. I changed it to glitter4.epub.
Also, let me correct a misstatement. The file I successfully uploaded to Amazon/kindle was the mobi version (and it had spaces in the filename, FWIW).

Here's a link to some very good information on your problem. Scroll down a bit on the page and you'll see a section on '...filename contains spaces'. The link provides answers to troubleshooting some common ePub issues.

You're welcome. You should pass the epub information on to your 'professional' who converted your ebook so he/she won't screw up with the next author paying for his/her service.
