| A new Fantasy/Sci-Fi/Phil-Fi novel for young adults - and adults too. |
This is a tale of a struggle against slavery and ignorance, of shadows and loyalty. In Marrakech, Chemchi, a Berber girl, enters a bargain with a brutal slave master. In return for his help, she must track down the son he needs to save him. He awakens her power to see what no one else can see: a living carpet of shadows, a portal to Cracked Marrakech, an uncanny parallel world. Chemchi finds the son. But she also finds the truth about her mother. And Cracked Marrakech has a mind of its own.... Now available on Smashwords.

Review of Shadows of Marrakech by Tim Kindberg
I wasn’t sure I would like the story, it not being my usual style. Frankly, I downloaded the twenty percent free portion with the idea to check it out and help a fellow author, not because of the description or cover (which looks cool, but a bit freakish). I liked it a lot. I read the entire twenty percent in one sitting and want more. There are a few typos, but the characters are wonderful, the setting is good, and the plot interesting and well-paced. I believed the characters and their motivations. It still isn’t my favorite, but I have to give it 5 stars so far. I will review it on Smashwords when I get around to buying the rest.
