I have been unable to get any answers on how to fix this, so I'm desperate. The only autovetter error I get is "Please add 'Smashwords edition'" to the copyright page. ...except that my copyright page DOES say that. It's modeled exactly after the one in the SW Style Guide. ?

You're not alone. I was just now lurking in the Kindleboards forum and several people are currently complaining about upload issues with Smashwords. I would email support and say your copyright page is correct.

That is weird. Copy your front matter and paste it in this thread for us to see what is the problem.

Here is the top part of the copyright page:
After Dakota Copyright 2012 Kevin Sharp Smashwords Edition
I uploaded it as an epub, then realized the epub didn't have this. So I replaced with a new version that does, but now I still get the error message!
Two emails to support have gotten no reply.

So I replaced with a new version that does, but now I still get the error message! Two emails to support have gotten no reply. The Style Guide has a different suggestion than the format you are using. The Style Guide suggests: Book Title Authorname Published by Firstname Lastname [or PublisherName] at Smashwords (or, alternatively, if you don’t want to use the “Published by...” line, add the words, Smashwords Edition on the next line. No need to do both.) Copyright 2010 Authorname So your copyright should look something like this: After Dakota Kevin Sharp Smashwords Edition Copyright 2012 Kevin Sharp All my copyright pages follow the Style Guides first suggestion of "Published by Firstname Lastname [or PublisherName] at Smashwords" and I've never had a problem. Here is an example of my copyright matter: The Sample Example By Ted Summerfield (All of the above is centered at the top of the first page. Then I insert the copyright matter on the next line below, all left justified.) Title: The Sample Example Author: Ted Summerfield Published by: Ted Summerfield at Smashwords Copyright: April 2013 Ted Summerfield Cover by: Ted Summerfield ISBN: xxx-q-yyyyyy-pp-e I use the same format for Amazon KDP, removing the 'at Smashwords' of course.

Thanks, Ted. I thought that might be the problem, but the message I'm getting is that I specifically need to add SMASHWORDS EDITION.
It would all be a lot simpler if they just replied to email.

Yeah, but you had your copyright date and 'Smashwords Edition' reversed. The autovetter is just computer code to check for common Style Guide errors, so when it doesn't find 'Smashwords Edition' in the same location as the examples in the Style Guide it sends out an error message. To the computer code you didn't add 'Smashwords Edition' because it wasn't in the proper place according to the Style Guide, which is before the copyright date. I know it seems to be a minor thing, but most computer codes can't determine if something changed is minor or major. Reversing the order may seem simple to you, me, and other authors but the computer code just goes by the rules and reports an error. You shouldn't have any problems if you follow the Style Guide.
