Congratulations galatea on finishing your trilogy and now publishing the first one. Well done! Do keep your book in the Smashwords own bookstore as well as distributing to Apple. You could also select Scribd on Smashwords. I get payments from Scribd. Even if the reader only read 50%, or 20% or 10% of the book, I still get paid that percentage. One big benefit of Smashwords bookstore is we can use coupon codes to lower the price without Amazon or other stores price matching. So, you can send the coupon code to one or many beta readers, or reviewers, and they download the ebook using the free code to read, and hopefully leave a review. I also use Smashwords to get my books into libraries in USA and elsewhere. I have had a few sales to libraries, but I priced very low for the libraries. I could look at raising the prices for libraries back to normal now books have settled down in distribution and sales. :-)

Yes, I kept Smashwords for the other channels. Sales on Smashwords itself aren't high. Dutch readers don't visit the shop as there isn't a filter on language. But it's just as good a sales channel as any other. I mainly use Smashwords for Apple.
I've also done a print version. On the one hand I'm using Mybesteller.com, on the other hand Amazon KDP. There is a noteable difference between the two. The cover quality of Amazon is not as high as that of Mybestseller. It's easier to damage the Amazon cover while reading. Also, Amazon's paper isn't as thick as that of Mybesteller (but sufficient). But... the Amazon print version is a lot cheaper. In the end that's what a reader wants I think.

Hi. Don't forget to put your print page link at the bottom of your Smashwords page. I know I have to update my books now all my print books are published via D2D Print. :-)

I just got my book Seismic Events added to the premium catalog. Spent six days formatting the book again from scratch using the style guide and got accepted on the first try. Very relieved. It's already showed up on Kobo and B&N, waiting to see it on Apple Books. I originally published the print and ebook version of the book in November 2019 on Amazon KDP.

Hi all, hope you are all well, and writing loads of stories. I have published 2 short stories and one short novel in January, 2021. Have written another short story but not published yet. I need to create a cover. Doing some more short courses on various sections of writing to (hopefully) improve my writing, including How to Write Villains. Now planning another few short stories to test some new characters needed for another novel. :-) Hola DJ, where would we find these short stories? Glad to see you are happily publishing :-)

Man I wish I could crank them out at your rate, DJ. I did get two out last year, but been busy painting commissions since and haven't been able to begin writing a new novel yet. I have a couple in mind, and am tinkering with a Sword and Planet story that I conceived probably 30 years ago, but no serious effort. Good luck with your latest stories!

Chris, they are only short stories, not novels. :-)
I am trying to do one short story a month for 12 months, but sadly, only ready to start June's story today, so not much time left. That is stories with less than 17500 words. Mostly they are around 7 - 10K length.
I guess I will write 2 short stories in July to make up for missing June's story. I am just making up stuff and characters for my new world, called "Roseworld" which is the name of the first novel. :-)
Been busy creating the image for a cover, which is almost done. Ready to create an image of an aircraft that is similar to a hovercraft but with Vertical Lift fans, to put in the next cover image of water and weeping willow trees. :-)

My wife's dad flew hovercraft in the US Army, stationed in Hawaii. This is his craft.

Thanks Chris. I will draw mine wide and low similar to your photo, then add 4 or 6 motors/fans along the sides. I like that people could sit on top with no roof or walls. Will see what I can build in blender after I sketch some different outlines. :-)

That's fantastic, congratulations on your publications! It's great to hear about your ongoing writing journey. For creating a cover for your upcoming short story, you might consider exploring book cover artists for hire. It's wonderful that you're investing in learning through short courses, especially on creating compelling villains. Best of luck with your future projects!
