There's a cloud shedding tears from above
For lives taken from those that they loved
No creator would applaud or condone
Those little angels never going home.
I try to see beauty in the wonder of living
The goodness in people, so full of giving
I've nothing to give, just my sympathy
and tears in the rain that fall from me.
Bless
(feel free to compose a poem yourselves)

There's a special place in hell for people who hurt children.

This awful thing happened about 75 miles north from where I live. There's no comprehension. Don't think your town or city can't be next. We have to make a better world.

We have to make a better world... To do that the entirety of the globe needs to draw together and stomp out Islamic extremism as if it were another form of polio or smallpox. We must fight it savagely, tirelessly, unceasingly - seeking it out and stomping it out wherever we find it. Make it so the only known remaining examples are in test tubes in freezers - placed there for study but never to again see the light of day. I agree with this guy. Everyone's afraid to come out and say what the problem is. Well - it's Islamic extremists in the form of groups like ISIS. These people don't care who they hurt or whether or not their victims are children. If they had the guts of their convictions they'd wage a conventional war instead of this hide and seek, gutless, cowardly pussyfutting manner in which they fight that involves the citizens of the world as their enemy. They despise everyone but themselves - this is evident because the attacks take place indiscriminately everywhere - hitting everyone from Muslim to Atheist alike and everything and everyone in between. Holding out hope for a better world.

Well, I am proud of the positive response from everyone, including: rapid response police; armed police killing the three sh*ts; newspapers showing the three dead on the street; shop workers saving customers by herding them into back of shops; strangers tweeting their home address near the area for stranded people to wait and rest; those targeted remaining in control while fleeing the scene; those who defended using chairs; those who stopped and helped the injured and dying; and everyone else involved in bringing the area safely back under control.

so am I proud to be British, born and bred and I'm also proud of those dealing with the atrocities. Just watched the Ariana Grande gig in Manchester and was proud of the resolute stance, so typically British. That said, as our prime minister has came out with after yet another atrocity, enough is enough. I'm not a Tory in any way, but I do hope she intends to act and isn't spouting the usual rhetoric. I have my opinions on what we should do but the politically correct brigade would savage me for saying them out loud. We have had three attacks in two months, some not that far from where I live. People, children included, will have to live with the injuries for their lifetimes. Some of those injured and killed were visitors to the U K, from countries all over the world. None of YOUR countries are immune. Some of us on this forum may ask, what has this to do with writing? I'm on a new book (no surprise there) which started off as a light-hearted sci fi, but will now reflect the realities of life today. Not in any heavy preaching way, but in a "Hmm. That's an idea" sort of way. I live in a block of flats (apartments) which is basically a vertical street. We have a mix of all colours, races and backgrounds and by and large we all get along. No racism, conflict or trouble. I pride myself on not being a racist and am colour blind for peoples colour. But I tell you this. It is getting increasingly harder for tolerant me to sustain those beliefs. If I'm becoming more angry, imagine how the less tolerant Brits are feeling.
Here is a quote from the BOOK of those killing our children.
9:5 Slay the idolaters “Then, when the sacred months are drawn away, slay the idolaters wherever you find them, and take them, and confine them, and lie in wait for them at every place of ambush. But if they repent, and perform the prayer, and pay the alms, then let them go their way; Allah is All-forgiving, All-compassionate.”
Do you think that makes me feel really welcoming of people with such views knowing they want to kill me because I don't believe as they do? And by the way. If you happen to be Jewish, they hate you even more than they hate me.

I've known many Muslims in my life and not one holds to such a dictum as 9:5. I've been invited to their mosques, weddings, had business dealings with them, and every Muslim has been equal or better in trust and honor when doing business than some others I've dealth with.
There's rotten apples in every culture and every religion.

I agree. This is down to a few extremists. That's why I specifically wrote,
Here is a quote from the BOOK of those killing our children. (one of the latest victims was a young Canadian woman)
In other words, the extremists. But they get their "excuses" for these atrocities from parts of the Quaran that all their faith are encouraged to read.
These words were written well before the wars in the East. I'm a humanist so have no time for any religion. I have no idea what the answer is. at the moment, there has been little backlash against the Islamic community, and that's good. But if we start dreading turning on the news in the morning, wondering what new horror has been done, I fear it is only a matter of time. Transfer this scenario to your own countries on your doorsteps and ask yourselves, how would you feel. I would love to see a world of love, peace and harmony for all people.

Yes, most people of any religion practice to obey the laws of their own particular BOOK, and practice peace with neighbours.
There are a lot of young and older people in Australia who use any excuse to steal or kill to get "stuff" or "drugs" of one kind or another. Most are just idiots, or have psycho problems, but a few are terrorists. So far, the worst one was eventually shot dead after taking hostages then killing one innocent person, the second was shot dead after killing a police department employee who was not a cop. Another was shot and jailed for driving a car down a mall and killing a baby, and killed or injuring children and adults. I, personally, think he should have been drawn and quartered, but our society does not think that is the way to go.
Police have arrested and jailed many others who had planned an attack but before they got to carry out their plans. I am sure there are many more planning an attack that the police are not aware of, but they will not stop me from going out to socialise. However, I do watch speeding cars, and look for weapons on others who are acting strange. Basically, taking notice of others. Being aware.
As to how I feel, right now I am annoyed that I handed in my gun licence and sold my guns five years ago. :-) And annoyed that I am too old and slow to use any judo moves on someone who attacks me or someone near me. And wondering if every mentally stable adult in Australia should be trained and certified so we could carry a concealed pistol/revolver, and would it make any difference? Would it stop extremists from carrying out attacks in Australia? I doubt it.
But most of all I hope women join the armies and police departments and women kill every male terrorist (like the dead three in UK photo), because some Muslim women told me that the terrorists believe if they are killed by women they will not go to heaven and not have 25 virgins waiting in heaven for them. Other than that, there is nothing we can do, except be aware, and hope some teachers can de-radicalize each and every captured terrorist.
And I would love to see love, peace and harmony spread throughout every country, too. However the "seven deadly sins" of human behaviour stand in the way of most people thinking like us.

Unlikely to find 25 virgins in this town (excluding me of course. I at least qualify as an honorary virgin) I dread to think of the insanity if we all had guns here. I'd probably feel justified in doing a dirty Gary (think about it) on litter louts. I've always thought Australians should be certified, but I'm probably wrong as usual. On a serious note, I think it's all academic as that lovely chap in North Korea will soon solve all our problems. Thankfully I have a medicinal wee dram in the evenings to make it all go away. Pass the whiskey!

God created man - Sam Colt made'em all equal.
Thank God I live in the USA.
Any sum beach kicks in my front door is going to get a belly full, I'm here to tell ya. We live in a frightening world where some will kill you for a dollar or because you don't think like they do. Because of that I feel the same way Clint Eastwood does when he was asked about gun control:
"I have a very strict gun control policy: if there's a gun around, I want to be in control of it."

Both the Bible and the Quran are full of contradictions. Those weak willed people seeking an excuse for doing wrong pick and choose which verses to follow and which to reject. The Bible says - Deuteronomy 17 If there be found among you, within any of thy gates which the LORD thy God giveth thee, man or woman, that hath wrought wickedness in the sight of the LORD thy God, in transgressing his covenant; 17:3 And hath gone and served other gods, and worshipped them, either the sun, or moon, or any of the host of heaven, which I have not commanded; 17:4 And it be told thee, and thou hast heard of it, and enquired diligently, and, behold, it be true, and the thing certain, that such abomination is wrought in Israel; 17:5 Then shalt thou bring forth that man or that woman, which have committed that wicked thing, unto thy gates, even that man or that woman, and shalt stone them with stones, till they die. Yet it also says to forgive and love your enemy and not to judge. The Quran says - Kill the unbelievers Mohamed taught "Do not be people without minds of your own, saying that if others treat you well you will treat them well, and that if they do wrong you will do wrong. Instead, accustom yourselves to do good if people do good and not to do wrong if they do evil."'(Sunan At-Tirmidhî) The obvious answer is to recognize both as the bronze age texts they are which cannot be used as a standard for today's morality.

all the above explains my Humanist opinions. If I want to read fairy tales, I'll write my own. And guns. Yeah. never enough things around to kill folk with. Now having stirred up the the dodah, sit back and watch it hit the fan. I'll not come out of this one smelling of roses.

Moderators can delete this if it is moving towards politics. :-)
Apparently, while I was busy writing for 2 hours, then mowing lawn for 1.5 hours, an Aussie sh*t killed one person, then took a female hostage, then when police responded the sh*t shot 3 police (only wounded police, not life threatening) then police shot him, I think (or he could have taken his own life.) I think he was a copycat to the latest incident in UK.
Seriously, I think a lot of brains have been short circuited by something, to cause them to act this way.
We all have imaginations, so one of us should come up with a solution that stops this type of action permanently.
Like, move all the known and suspected terrorists (of any religion) to an island with no way to swim off the island. And no knives. Or other metal tools. No benefits or comforts of our society. They would be too busy using their hands to grow food to plan more attacks. And no women to breed the next generation. Or ... ?
