I wish Smashwords would make up its mind. Since when is color (as in colored words) not allowed? All of my text in the actual book is "automatic" black, but I have some of the "other books" section highlighted in color. I've done it on other books accepted into t he catalogue so why did they stop this. The only problem holding it up was this:
Current status The current status of Room Service is Needs modification
Please format your colored text as 'automatic'; some e-readers have trouble displaying colors. ||| When you're finished correcting your book, go to Dashboard: 'upload new version' to upload the manuscript. Thanks.
I thought if a reader had problems displaying color it would just show as black anyway. Isn't that right?

Hi Tami; I did a quick search on the net and found some threads indicating epub and mobi had difficulty with color fonts, but these comments were between 2008 & 2011. One thread from May 2011 on customizing CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) for mobi (Kindle) devices had this to say; "NOTE: Some HTML tags/rules are not supported or are only supported minimally for the Kindle such as margins, different fonts, font sizes, and colors." www.unrulyguides.com/2011/05/basic-formatting-style-sheets/I'm not sure why or how your prior ebook(s?) which had color fonts were accepted for Premium Distribution, but I'd correct those and upload them again just to be safe and sure.

If I change anything in the files of the books already accepted, will that throw them back into review and keep them from being sent to the distribution channel? I'm not sure really I thought they all had the color font in the other books section, but maybe I changed that for the one. I'll have to look.

I stand corrected. They didn't. My apologies. At the same time, I thought things like bold/italic and color were okay in ebooks. I guess not.
