www.smashwords.com/books/view/436178I haven't posted on here for a while. I've had a steady trickle of interest in Sweet Talking over the last year or so (378 downloads). It was also free on Kindle but they've put it back to 99p...trying to price match it again now. Any other ideas for promotion? I'm on twitter as #colin.bell 100 and had a modicum of interest. Cheers Sugarman

Cheers Sugarman Hola Sugarman: 378 downloads is impressive. There is lots you can do to promote your work. Here's a few ideas. First, do you have a website? I went to your Smashwords page and could not find an email or website. Also, update your signature here on SWF, add your smashwords link, email and a link to your blog or website. Start a Facebook page Start a Pinterest page Visit local bookstores to see if they will hold a reading. Join online writers groups pertinent to your audience and socialize, depending on your work's topic or audience. Get a table at a convention that attracts your audience, or go and leave flyers etc. Do a Blog Tour, contact bloggers who may have an interest in your book, suggest offering a guest post about some aspect of your writing or topic. One of my favorite ideas which I have not achieved is send a copy to a "famous" person, maybe they will read it.

Thanks Canarypress...I'll take your ideas on board. I have to say I've neglected Smashwords since I managed get Kindle to price match Sweet Talking to £0.00. I only came back as I needed to give a free source to those following on twitter after Kindle suddenly put it back to 99p. I was up to a few hundred downloads here as well. People seem to like my books but won't go the extra mile and add a review. If I had more computer savvy I'd probably do a lot better but I'm afraid I'm no spring chicken and social media is a bit of a mystery to me...still I'm trying and your suggestions are gratefully received...many thanks. Colin

Welcome. It looks interesting. I seem to remember it. Did you post it before?
It looks political in nature. What are your biases? Every author has them and I don't mind reading those I disagree with, I just like to know where the author stands with such a work. I don't do political works, but I have a bias towards hope and faith in my writing.
Also, I second the get your own website idea and a Facebook account and Pintrest. I'm behind on my website, but I monitor my Facebook and heavily watch my Pintrest.
Good luck.

Hi David I'd like to think there is no political bias here and I'm definitely not interested in politics. It's my interpretation of how industry in the UK worked during the 1970's and leaves the reader to make up their own mind whether this was good or bad...as long as it generates a laugh I don't care!

Looks like I haven't been here for 3 years! I haven't done any writing for about 4 years as too busy on my day job. I've noticed recently a flurry of activity...well some activity! There have been about 300 free downloads in the last 3 to 6 months roughly. My question is why has this happened? No one has reviewed it or mentioned it on any forum so I'm at a loss to know why and who is reading it. Any ideas? www.smashwords.com/books/view/436178

Yes I guess it must be. But who are they and how can I tap into this sudden interest.

The items were free. People will download free and sometimes forget about them. See if you got any decent reviews of those downloaded.

Hmmm...I'm not too sure where to look! Is there a Smashwords review section?

Just my 2 cents, besides being a free publication, I suspect Smashwords may have changed its algorithm for search and recommendations.
Also, I can not find you on Twitter at Colin.Bell100, my Twitter handle is @bitsbitesbooks
