I suppose this has been answered a kazillion times, but I've got a non-standard (non-fantasy, Twilight, etc) book that could get some interest in several enthusiasts magazines. I'm confident that they will either review it, or at least list it in their media pages. Since I'm pricing the book at $1.99, how do I get it in the hands of the magazines?
(There's also the matter of a couple of people helping with the research--not exactly collaborators, but they did help. How do I get a copy to them?)
Send a PDF of the MSS? OR is there any way to get a few free copies for said promotion?

Send a PDF to your collaborators, and be sure to lock PDF so no changes/printing can be made. Use a complex password in the Security section of your PDF, 10-18 letters/numbers/symbols, and copy it to a Word file for future reference.
Most magazines won't review a work by an unknown writer, but might if an inducement was offered (this is known as "paid reviews"). Write and ask how to get a review. Most magazine sites have links to information on submissions and advertising/promotion in their magazines.
Magazines and review sites are overwhelmed with requests/submissions by new authors. Don't expect a quick reply.
Best method: publish your ebook, then contact magazines when your ebook has generated great reviews and is selling like hot cakes. This will give support to your request and get the attention of reviewer/editor sooner.
